NISER a happy place for students
- Good atmosphere, beautiful environmental, far from town so the place is so good
- Hostel is so good and comfortable, food is also very good.
- No placement which I did not like here, it should have placement.
- Some hostel canteen has very terrible food quality.
The admission process is through NEST exam. You have to qualify with good rank in this exam. You have to qualify either 3 subjecta among math, physics, chemistry and biology. Then only you will get a rank. For general cut -off around 100 rank and for obc around 400 rank and sc and st it less. But it varies year by year
NISER: Apply if you're serious about scientific research and career
- The campus is beautiful and serene, has an open meditation centre on a hilltop, it's the landmark. Infrastructure is state of art
- Sports facilities have improved a lot, basketball and lawn tennis courts are available too
- It's a science based course. If you change your mind later on to exit academia, it's hard to find other options
- Placement cell has just been setup, with companies like mpharma visiting, but ofc they prefer PhD candidates over MSc
Admission is through NEST (National entrance screening test), forms are out in feb/ march, exam is conducted in June (once a year), has questions from maths, biology, physics and chemistry (best scores of three are considered), seats are reserved as per category
One of the best institutes if you want to pursue a career in research
Admission process is quite streamlined with a separate exam being conducted for the entry into the institute. The NEST exam is held every year through out the country at various locations and merit list is prepared according to your performance in top 3 subjects out of the 4 science subjects(Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics) that the exam is conducted in. the application fees is around 1200INR and it is lower for female and SC/ST category candidates. futher details can be found at www.nestexam.in
NISER: RESEARCH WITH PASSION
- Students from all parts of country
- Freedom , as there is no ragging
- Some seniors are rude
- Groupism takes place
You have to qualify NEST exam to get admission to this college. You can get the admission form from the NISER website. You must cross the cut-off along with smas cut-off. Reservation is there according to central rules. The admission process is very neat and clean.
My Niser experience
Admission is based on the NEST examination. You can find it by searching the NISER website. Reservation is available for obs sc st and PWD. The exam is a lengthy exam of 3.5 hours having a sectional cut-off system means you have to score a min mark in each subject to be on the merit list.
All about NISER

B.Sc+M.Sc (CS) - NISER
The reason why I am pursuing my 5 year Integrated programme at NISER is mainly due to the National level recognition the college holds. The college was built in 2007 and is affiliated with Homi Bhabha National Institute,Mumbai. Having autonomous status is another great thing in the college's achievements. 1. What is NISER and its Significance?
NISER, short for the National Institute of Science Education and Research, is an autonomous institute in India that offers integrated five-year programs in various fields of science. With a focus on research and innovation, National Institute of Science Education and Research aims to nurture the scientific curiosity and talent of its students. Established in 2007, National Institute of Science Education and Research has quickly gained recognition as a premier institution for science education in the country.
2. Is There Any Placement Cell In NISER?
After completing their studies at NISER, students have a wide range of placement opportunities available to them. The institute has a dedicated placement cell that facilitates connections between students and potential employers. This placement cell was established in 2021. While National Institute of Science Education and Research does not conduct traditional campus placements like engineering or management institutes, it provides ample support and guidance to students seeking employment or further education.
Internships play a crucial role in shaping the career prospects of National Institute of Science Education and Research students. These internships, both within India and abroad, provide valuable hands-on experience and exposure to cutting-edge research. They also serve as a stepping stone to securing future job offers or admission to prestigious research institutes.
To further enhance their employability, NISER students are encouraged to participate in various workshops, seminars, and industry interactions throughout their academic journey . These activities not only broaden their knowledge but also enable them to develop essential skills and build professional networks.
3. What Are The Research Options After NISER?
Research is at the core of NISER’s mission, and the institute offers numerous opportunities for students to pursue their scientific interests. Upon graduation, students can choose to undertake research projects in collaboration with esteemed faculty members or pursue higher studies in renowned research institutions both in India and abroad.
National Institute of Science Education and Research has made strong ties with international universities and research organizations.
